I am the prophet of the Lord,
Spreading His Word throughout the earth,
Preaching unto king and slave.
Black Death is the scripture I teach:
Glorious, glad tidings to all!
He that hath an ear, let him hear!
Sing unto the Lord a new song!
Sing unto the Lord, all ye earth!
Lift your voices unto the Lord,
For He is worthy to be praised!
Ashes as black halos gather
'Round the pale faces of the dead.
Holy are they, blessed in the Lord.
Yea, each one an evangelist,
Sowing the Gospel of the End,
And I, alone, lead the chorus
Infestus Divinus! God in the flesh!
"What? Know ye not that your body is the Temple of the Lord?
Lift your voices unto the Lord,
Ye fielded beasts and windborne fowl!
For, he hath given you a feast;
Ye shall dine upon the flesh of men!
For, swiftly I am upin them;
Pestifer: unseen as the wind!
Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
Abigail Williams has had a weird career with hiatuses and lineup changes, but they have finally perfected their sound on Walk Beyond the Dark. This album has such a refreshing and natural feeling that makes it one of the top atmospheric black metal albums of recent years. Ryan
